CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN SPECIALIST PROGRAMME
That ache that never quite goes away? It's not a mystery. It's a message
You've rested it. You've stretched it. You've had someone press on it while you lay face-down for 45 minutes. Maybe it felt better for a day or two, but it came back. Of course it did. Because the treatment never asked the right question.
Back pain that keeps returning isn't a nuisance. It's a signal that something in the way you move, load, or function is being asked to do something it can't currently handle. Fix that, and the pain stops returning. Miss it - and you're back to square one in six weeks.
This is physiotherapy for people who are done with square one.
Not sure if we're right for you? The free call costs you nothing and tells you everything.

Why your back pain keeps coming back
If you've already tried the standard playbook - and most people with chronic back pain have, this section is for you. We're not interested in making you feel foolish for trying those things. They were reasonable choices. They just weren't complete ones.
🛑
Rest doesn't rebuild capacity
When your back hurts, stopping makes sense. And yes, the pain often fades. But rest doesn't change the underlying reason the pain appeared. It reduces the load. The moment you return to normal life, the load returns - and so does the pain. You haven't fixed anything. You've just pressed pause.
🛑
Stretching treats the symptom, not the source
Tight back muscles are usually tight for a reason - they're compensating for something. A stiff hip. A weak glute. A movement pattern that's been loading one part of your spine for years. Stretching the muscle relaxes it temporarily. It doesn't change the reason it was bracing in the first place.
🛑
Massage feels good. It doesn't fix structure.
Hands-on treatment has its place. But if the pain is being driven by how you move and load your spine, no amount of soft tissue work changes that. You'll feel better on the table. You walk out the door, sit at your desk, go for a run - and the same forces are acting on the same structures in the same way.
There is a better question than 'what will make this feel better today?' It's: 'why is this happening, and what needs to change so it stops?' That's the question we ask. Every time.
WHO THIS IS FOR
We work with people who take their back seriously. And are ready to do the same.
We don't do revolving-door physiotherapy. What we do takes commitment. If that sounds like you, read on.
✓ THIS IS FOR YOU IF…
✓ Your back pain is chronic - it's been there for weeks, months, or years
✓ It disrupts your training, your work, or your ability to just get through the day
✓ You've tried rest, stretching, or other treatment and you're frustrated it hasn't held
✓ You want to understand what's actually driving the problem - not just get a temporary fix
✓ You're willing to put in the work between sessions, because you understand this isn't passive
✓ THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF…
✗ You want to be fixed without changing anything about how you move or train
✗ You're looking for the cheapest option available
✗ You want someone to manage your pain on an ongoing basis
✗ You're not prepared to do work between sessions
That 'not for you' list isn't a judgement. It's a service. The wrong fit wastes your time and ours - and more importantly, it doesn't get you better.
THE BEMAVERICK METHOD
Four stages. One outcome:a back that holds up - for good.
Our approach isn't revolutionary because it's complicated. It's effective because it actually addresses what's going on with your specific body - not a textbook version of it.
01
Full-picture assessment - we start nowhere near your back.
Most back assessments look at the back. We look at everything. How you stand, how you move, how you load, what happens at your hips and pelvis when you walk or squat or sit. Your back is usually the messenger. We find who sent the message
02
Honest diagnosis and a plan you can actually follow.
At the end of your first session, you'll know exactly what's happening, why it's been happening, and what the road out looks like. No vague prognoses. No 'let's see how you respond'. A realistic timeline, clearly communicated.
03
Tissue revitalization + progressive loading + nervous system rewiring - the treatment that actually works.
Your tissues heals under the right kind of controlled load - not avoidance. Your spine is designed to handle load. What it can't handle is the wrong load, in the wrong pattern, without adequate capacity. We build that capacity systematically. Not by avoiding load, but by introducing it intelligently, in controlled progression, until your back can handle your life again.
04
Resilience and discharge - because the goal is always to make you independent.
We are not interested in keeping you on the books indefinitely. Our measure of success is a patient who leaves stronger, more resilient, and fully informed - and never needs to come back for the same problem. That's the outcome. That's the only acceptable outcome
WHO YOU'RE WORKING WITH
Jeffrey
Founder, Chartered Physiotherapist & 2-time World Masters Champion

Most physios treat your injury. Jeffrey treats the person who has it - and there is a meaningful difference
Jeffrey has worked extensively with people dealing with chronic low back pain - desk workers, runners, athletes, and people who simply got to a point where the pain was running their life. He knows what good rehabilitation looks like here, and more importantly, he knows what it doesn't look like.
Jeffrey founded beMaverick because he was tired of a system that hands patients a generic exercise sheet, collects a fee, and books them back in two weeks. That model keeps clinics busy. It does not get people better.
As a competitive swimmer and Masters World Champion, Jeffrey understands what it means to demand real performance from your body - and what it costs when something stops you. He built this practice for people who refuse to accept 'manage it and hope' as an answer.
His approach is grounded in biomechanical assessment and progressive loading - the clinical method with the strongest evidence base for musculoskeletal pain. No passive treatment. No dependency. A plan built around your body and your life.

Jeffrey's knowledge of human body function is truly remarkable (...). Previously other physiotherapists had simply shrugged and prescribed ibuprofen.
